Ushering a new era of community growth and empowerment with new HR leadership

Human resources director and executive leadership coach Hannah Balogun will lead a new era of faculty and staff growth and empowerment at Northwestern Qatar as the school’s new director of human resources.

Kraidy, dean and CEO of Northwestern Qatar. Recognizing the pivotal role human resources plays in higher education, he added, “I’m confident that her holistic approach to HR management, coupled with her aptitude for innovation and genuine passion for supporting employee growth, will lead to positive transformations that impact the school’s future and support faculty and staff excellence.”
 
With a career spanning over 20 years, Balogun brings a wealth of experience in higher education, innovative thinking, and a fresh perspective to this role, focusing on enhancing the growth and empowerment of faculty and staff. Drawing on her expertise in talent development and employee engagement, Balogun will lead a series of new initiatives designed to support the growth and empowerment of Northwestern Qatar’s community.

As the school’s new director of human resources, Balogun will focus on establishing comprehensive professional development programs aimed at supporting the skills and expertise of the community. By tailoring workshops, training and coaching sessions to meet individual growth needs, she will support the community at Northwestern Qatar to excel in their current roles and advance into new opportunities.

In her new role, Balogun will also work on enhancing internal communication channels and partnering with the home campus on shared initiatives. In addition, in line with the leadership vision, she will work with internal stakeholders to strengthen the sense of community and create an environment where faculty and staff feel valued and have an active voice in shaping best practices in HR policies by fostering open dialogue, feedback, and a culture of transparency.
 
James Shaw, associate dean for administration and chief operations officer, underscored  Balogun’s expertise and deep understanding of the challenges faced by academic institutions, highlighting how her work will support Northwestern Qatar’s mission. “As Northwestern Qatar continues to grow its operations and impact, Hannah’s expertise in international higher education will be instrumental to ensuring that our faculty and staff are well supported and empowered to maximize their impact and help the school deliver its academic mission.”
 
Prior to joining Northwestern Qatar, Balogun worked as a human resources consultant across various sectors internationally and was, for nearly a decade, the director of human resources at University College London (UCL) in Qatar, where she was recognized for innovation, compassion, and excellence. She is a Fellow of a number of professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). She is also an accredited Resilient Leaders Consultant, a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the Qatar Professional Women’s Network, where she mentors members and affiliates.
