Students expand their horizons with experiential learning programs

March 24, 2023

A group of 48 students traveled to Laos and the United Arab Emirates as part of the experiential learning programs. Students participating in the Service-Learning program helped local communities in rural Luang Prabang build a school for impoverished children, while those who traveled to Abu Dhabi and Dubai were immersed in different media sites and met with professionals in the media industry to learn more about their work and operations.

Service Learning Experience

Each year, students participating in the Service Learning Experience go on an immersive, hands-on experience to tackle real-world development challenges in communities in need of support while expanding their understanding of the historical and socio-political context of the visited country and building a strong sense of global citizenship and commitment. This year, students traveled to Laos to help local communities in rural Luang Prabang build a school for children.

Global Media Experience

The annual Global Media Experience enables students to engage with individuals at a variety of well-established media corporations, as well as up-and-coming startups, to better understand the dynamic nature of the media industry in the region. This year’s program took students to the United Arab Emirates, where they explored various media sites and met with experts from Alsharq News, CNN Arabic, Ogilvy, and other organizations across the media and communication industry.
