Northwestern Qatar graduates receive academic distinction

Northwestern University in Qatar has recognized several recent graduates for their academic excellence.
 
Hadice Tahire Koç, achieved the highest academic standing among the graduating class, and was named the class valedictorian. Koç was also one of three Northwestern Qatar students who graduated summa cum laude. Tony El Ghazal and Rui Xin Oh shared that honor with Koç.
 
This year, a record number of Northwestern Qatar graduates received academic honors. Alongside their academic achievements, the Class of 2021 included student researchers, filmmakers, journalists, and student leaders.

Latin Honors are awarded in three categories: summa cum laude recipients are in the top five percent of their graduating class; magna cum laude are students in the next eight percent; and cum laude are students in the next 12 percent.
 
Eight Northwestern Qatar graduates received magna cum laude honors: Njoud Mohammed K M Al-Mana, Maryam Jassim Y M Al-Suwaidi, Xiruo Chen, Maryam Abdulla I. H. Al-Badr, Muhammad Saad Ejaz, Lingyu Feng, Rumeysa Cihan Koç, and Danna Mohamad Takriti.
 
Those receiving cum laude recognition were: Alreem Ali A A Al-Khater, Maha Ali A Z Al-Kuwari, Tamadur Khalid M A Al-Mannai, Amal Barakat, Marielle Aguelo Cortel, Inaara Nizarali Fazal Gangji, Razan Houssam Ghadban, and Nada Ahmed Yousef Qaddourah.
 
In addition to being honored for their academic excellence, Inaara Gangji, Rui Xin Oh, Maryam Abdulla I. H. Al-Badr, Danna Takriti, and Tony El Ghazal were also recognized for student leadership, research involvement, and extracurricular participation. They received the Dean’s Award, Communication Award, Journalism and Strategic Communication Award, Liberal Arts Award, and Student Leadership Award, respectively.
 
The Class of 2021 is Northwestern Qatar’s largest graduating class to date, with 85 graduates representing more than 22 countries, including China, Egypt, Gambia, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Korea, Lebanon, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Sudan, Sweden, Syria, Tanzania, Tunisia, Ukraine, and the United States.
