March 05, 2018

Students at Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q) are being honored for their academic achievements. Each semester the university recognizes students who have done exceptionally well in their course work by naming them to the Dean’s List.

NU-Q has just announced the students who have achieved this prestigious honor for the Fall 2017 semester. In all there were 77 students named to the Dean’s List - 15 freshmen, eight sophomores, 24 juniors and 30 seniors.

“The rigor of the coursework across NU-Q’s academic programs – which includes essays, exams, and media projects – challenges students to perform to the best of their ability,” said Everette E. Dennis, dean and CEO. “Those named to the Dean’s List deserve to be recognized for their academic endeavors and excellent performance.”

Students enrolled at NU-Q major in journalism and strategic communication or communication. Both programs are grounded in a liberal arts education, which includes offering courses to students in political science, history, anthropology, and others – all of which provide a well-rounded education for the university’s graduates.

NU-Q graduates have pursued careers as journalists, editors, strategic communicators, filmmakers, content creators, researchers and lawyers. In addition, nearly 40 percent have continued their higher education at top international universities, including Oxford, Harvard, Northwestern, and Columbia.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, media industries and technology majors at NU-Q achieve at least a 3.75 grade point average (GPA) for the semester, and journalism and strategic communication majors achieve a 3.7 GPA.
