Northwestern University in Qatar invites applications for a one-year lecturer appointment in the field of Writing Studies to be appointed in the Liberal Arts Program. Experience teaching first-year composition to undergraduate students is essential, and experience in teaching second language writers would be considered a strength. A PhD in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, English, or Applied Linguistics is required. Successful candidates should possess a willingness to engage across disciplinary boundaries in teaching. Candidates are expected to teach the foundational First Year Writing 1 and 2 courses that are mandatory for all first-year students at NU-Q.

Candidates should show competence in working with globally diverse communities, and excellence in inclusive teaching and mentoring. Responsibilities include teaching three sections per semester of First Year Writing (6 per year). The candidate should be collegial and collaborative, and will work closely with other first-year writing instructors, and the broader Liberal Arts program. This one-year appointment is subject to renewal based on performance and the needs of the Liberal Arts program.
