The International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) is the leading global professional organization in the field of media and communication research. The event invites scholars worldwide to explore the intersections of media, communication, and environmental justice through diverse, interdisciplinary lenses.
This preconference builds on ongoing conversations within the InterAsian Digitalities initiative at the Institute for Advanced Study in the Global South at Northwestern University in Qatar. Building on prior events in Doha, Beirut, and at ICA 2024, it responds to IAMCR 2025’s call to explore digital technologies in relation to justice, sustainability, and inequality. Bringing together interdisciplinary scholars—especially from the Global South—the event will feature panels on digital citizenship, environmental and data justice, national belonging, and contested sovereignties across the InterAsia region.
