Northwestern alumni connect in 70 cities around the world

April 06, 2022

Northwestern Qatar alumni and students came together at the annual Northwestern Connects (#NUConnects) event. A Northwestern tradition, the global networking event is organized by the university’s alumni association, NU Club of Qatar, and provides a platform for Northwestern alumni to network and celebrate their Purple Pride.

Over the past seven years, this event has been so successful that the Northwestern Alumni Association now considers it their signature annual global event. This year, the event was projected to take place in over 70 cities around the world. “It is heartening to see the alumni community together at an in-person event after the pandemic,” said Muhammad Humam ’20, president of the NU Club of Qatar. “With events like NU Connects, it is our goal to facilitate networking among alumni and strengthen their connection to their alma mater,” he added.

This year also marks 10 years of alumni success at Northwestern Qatar. More than 500 alumni have graduated to become leaders and practitioners in media, journalism, government, business, and higher education. An alumni-focused website exists to document their achievements, critical perspectives, and unforgettable experiences.

Commenting on the role alumni play in building a vibrant Northwestern community, Alex Schultes, assistant dean for the student experience, said, “we strive to foster lifelong connections, exciting events, and rewarding networking opportunities for our students and graduates.” Adding that, events like Northwestern Connects serve as a reminder of the vastness of the Northwestern community.

Part of a growing network of more than 250,000 alumni worldwide, Northwestern Connects is a series of networking events held on the same night in cities across the globe. These events allow students and fellow alumni to connect and expand their personal and professional network.
