Fred Silva began his career in international student services and admissions at the University of Northern Iowa before joining Kettering University as assistant director of international admissions and, later, Furman University as assistant director of admissions and coordinator of international admission. Most recently, Silva worked at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology where he served as acting manager, recruiting undergraduate and graduate students to various sponsored programs.

A former international student, Silva is the advisor to the Brazilian Student Association at Northwestern Qatar. He also has been a contributing member of international education professional organizations. Silva has served as a faculty member for International Association for College Admission Counseling annual conferences, has been a member of the Asia and Latin America committees for the Council of International Schools, and presented regularly at international conferences.

Silva has a BA in general studies from the University of Northern Iowa and is completing an MS in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University.
