Update on COVID-19 for Admitted Students

Update from NU-Q Admissions

By now many of you have heard that we implemented remote classes through at least the spring and summer semesters. Only individuals essential to the University’s ongoing operations can remain physically on site.

The University is still operating and all current students are enrolled in their spring courses.

Since we are not permitted to be on campus, we want to let you know that Admissions is here to serve as a resource for admitted students to explore their new home at Education City, Doha and within the greater Qatar community.

We’re a close-knit family and are keeping in touch with each other every day.

For high school and transfer students interested in pursuing your Northwestern direction next year, we continue to offer the same open and transparent process we always have.

For our admitted students, your offers of acceptance are not in jeopardy. Awarding of advanced and transfer credit continues and the onboarding process will begin in earnest this May after the National College Decision Day (May 1st).

Lastly, we live in an incredibly inspiring time and place. We’re thankful for how proactive the State of Qatar has been throughout the current crisis. Events will continue to evolve, and we will continue to operate with flexibility and understanding in mind. Dates and deadlines could very well change. We should expect them to.

We’re here to make your Northwestern dream a reality and COVID-19 will not change that.

Yours in admission,

FAQs

Our campus is currently closed and tours are postponed until further notice.
We fully expect the fall semester to begin as scheduled. If there is a change, we will inform you right away.
We will work together with every admitted student to ensure you matriculate when we reopen.
We will show flexibility for all students to ensure matriculation to Northwestern. If you are unable to obtain transcripts or exam results, you will be required to have a letter from a school official (college counselor, advisor or head of school) indicating that you have completed requirements necessary to graduate from your school and that external exams are unavailable.
Offers of admission will not be changed due to high schools, ministries or external exam boards canceling their offerings.
AP exams will be administered through a new at-home testing option. Although IB exams will not be administered this year, subjects and diplomas will be centrally scored using the same scale as traditional IB examinations. NU-Q will award credit based on scores as outlined in our existing credit policies.
Students are expected to confirm their enrollment by May 1st, 2020.
Students interested in deferring their enrollment are expected to confirm their enrollment and pay seat deposit by May 1st, 2020, in addition to notifying the Office of Admissions via email.
