In addition to Earthchild, a program that teaches children about healthy lifestyles, the group of 12 students from NU-Q also served at the Children’s Radio Project and at an educational book drive.

“South Africa is a land of contradictions, beauty and poverty, joy and sorrow, and as media students, we were fascinated by the entire country,” said journalism student Haddad. “The kids we spent time with were so resilient, and bright and hopeful, despite their circumstances of growing up in neighborhoods riddled with crime and violence.”
