Qatar Media Industries Forum

Media on the Rise in Qatar: 2020 Trends and Beyond

November 4, 2019

This session of QMIF will explore trends in Qatar, including the continued rise of digital media, the impact of 5G, combating disinformation, and the role of entrepreneurship.

The panel will be moderated by Eddy Borges-Rey, associate professor at NU-Q, and will feature media and innovation experts Hayfa Al Abdulla, innovation director at Qatar Science and Technology Park; Fatima Al-Kuwari, executive director of marketing at Ooredoo; and Steve Morris, managing partner at Portland Communications.

QMIF was established in 2012 as part of a wider effort to provide thought leadership, educate future media and communications leaders in Qatar and the Middle East, and produce groundbreaking research on industry trends and media consumption in the region.

Previous editions of the forum discussed topics on sports media, the role of social media in the Qatari majlis, international news coverage of the blockade on Qatar, and national branding, among other media-related topics.
