As Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Nanci Martin leads a team of professionals responsible for internal and external communications at NU-Q. 

A highly accomplished international senior marketing executive with 25 years of experience in communication, media relations, and publications, she has earned a reputation for utilizing strategic partnerships to achieve long-term goals in higher education, international development, non-profit organizations, and government.

Prior to joining NU-Q in 2015, Martin was the founder and president of Global Communication Strategies where she designed and implemented fully operational communications and marketing departments and programs for universities and NGOs. Her clients included Harvard University, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani, and Rhode Island College. Earlier, she served as associate vice president for institutional advancement at the American University in Cairo, director of communications and advertising at Catholic Relief Services’ headquarters in Baltimore, deputy director of the press office at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and press secretary and director of communications in the Rhode Island Governor’s Office.

Martin is a graduate of Georgetown University and the University of Rhode Island.
