Sean Burns
Sean Burns, M.A., is a Lecturer of Liberal Arts in Residence at Northwestern University in Qatar. Burns is also a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow, Political Science (Social & Decision Sciences) at Carnegie Mellon University Qatar. He received a bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley, and a master’s degree in Political Science from Northwestern University. He is currently completing his Ph.D. dissertation on non-democratic revolutionary movements. He has extensive experience both in teaching and administration. In addition to being awarded the R Barry Farrell Award for excellence in teaching as a graduate student, Burns was responsible for re-designing the tuition and registration structure for graduate students at Northwestern, and served as Head T.A. for the Department of Political Science. His main areas of research interest include revolutionary movements, state-building and state failure, and international organizations. He has taught in a broad range of areas, from 20th century Latin America to local American politics and law enforcement.Email Sean Burns.
