Geoff Harkness

eoff Harkness, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in Residence in the Liberal Arts Program at Northwestern University in Qatar. He is also a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow of Social & Decision Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar.
He has a BA and MA in sociology from the University of Kansas, and PhD in sociology from Northwestern University, where he was awarded the Helen O. Piros Dissertation and Research Fellowship and the Karpf Prize. His scholarship focuses on the interactive practices of youth cultures, and the role of context in shaping the content and character of youth culture and identity. His scholarly research has been published in Cultural Sociology, American Behavioral Scientist, the International Journal of the History of Sport, the Journal of Workplace Rights, and Contexts.
