Northwestern University in Qatar is located in Education City, where it currently occupies the top floor of the Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar building. NU-Q’s permanent facility is scheduled to be completed in 2014.

Facilities and Equipment
NU-Q offers students top-rate facilities in which to learn. The Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar building offers:
- One 70-student lecture hall
- One 93-person auditorium
- One 30-person seminar room
- Three 25-person teaching labs
- One 24-person and one 18-person computer lab
- One library
- One small video studio used for indoor training
- Eight video and audio edit suites
- A student lounge area
- A dozen other shared seminar and study group rooms of various sizes.
In addition to the facilities in the CMU-Q building, NU-Q will utilize a specially-built television studio facility including:
- Two video/television studios
- One video control room
- Two audio and five video edit suites
- Eight offices
- One 12-person newsroom
- Four various-size seminar/classrooms.
Students also have access to the latest media equipment available today. Each student will be given or have easy access to:
- An Apple laptop with the full suite of Adobe software
- Nikon still cameras: D90, D300, and D5000
- Red high-definition motion cameras
- Marantz audio recording devices
- Full lighting kit for filmmaking
