Student Position: Web Migration Assistant

Essential Responsibilities

Student will work with Prof. Christina Paschyn and IT coordinator Shakir Hussain to migrate four existing, free standing Wordpress sites to the NUsites platform instead.

The original sites were produced by Prof. Paschyn’s Advanced Online Storytelling class and are:

The student will be tasked with:

• selecting aesthetically pleasing templates on the NUsites platform. These should match or be very similar to the current templates on the above Wordpress sites.
• testing the NUsites templates’ functionality in order to determine if it matches our needs. Adjusting or choosing new plug-ins as needed.
• ensuring that all content (logos, photos, articles, videos, graphics) is migrated over successfully without any errors.
• ensuring that all content is re-organized in an intuitive and aesthetically pleasing way in the new NUsites-chosen template.

Essential Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Wordpress; preferably student already would have his or her own Wordpress blog or website, and knows how to use the backend.
• Demonstrate an ability to work independently, follow-through on projects, plan ahead, and manage time.
